I have been working in the IT industry since 1978 initially as a
computer operator and then
as a programmer and analyst/programmer using the technologies listed
below.
Working on a variety of mainframe, mini-computer & PC systems this
has involved developing new applications as well as providing support /
upgrades to existing applications.
Major achievements during my career have included the design and
development of a payroll package, a laboratory records system and a
production scheduling/records system (used in manufacture of the
Twickenham rugby stadium grandstands). I have also developed a web
interface for local government mainframe systems, incorporating a
web-browser based terminal emulator and produced several websites.

2002 - 2005: Steria Limited
- Analyst/Programmer
Working mainly in COBOL & PACBASE this role involves maintaining
and enhancing the companies integrated local government revenues &
benefits system. I have also designed & developed a web interface
for this application, including a browser based terminal emulator and XML interface to remote systems.
1997 - 2002: Bull Information Systems Limited
- Analyst/Programmer
I joined Bull to help develop & maintain their integrated local
government Revenues & Benefits system, written in COBOL & PACBASE
and running on Bull mainframes. We transferred to Steria Ltd, in April
2002, to continue supporting the same application.
1978 - 1996: Crendon Computing & Consultants
Ltd - Analyst/Programmer
I started my career with this company as a Computer Operator before
moving in to software development. All applications were developed in-house, to support the parent companies construction industry business as
well as a computer bureau service. Development was initially in Assembler,
then COBOL and included the full range of commercial applications
including accounting, payroll, stock control etc.
Education
Educated at Lord Williams School, Thame & Aylesbury College of Further Education.
I have throughout my career completed numerous manufacturer run
training courses for the various programming languages and databases that
I have worked on, most recently completing Progress 4GL, GUI and database
administration courses.
Background
I am a car owner and have a full, clean driving licence.
I am a member of my local Motor Club and have been competing,
successfully, as a Rally Co-Driver for many years, the culmination of
which has been becoming the Champion Co-Driver, in my class, in the Kumho
Tyres National Rally Championship in 2002.
I am a committee member of the motor club and produce the club website. |
